We Made It!
We've landed in Phoenix after an uneventful flight - first class, no less . . . . not bad for a boy from Clarksburg and a girl from Pea Ridge! I got to watch March Madness for the entire flight and still find that amazing that you can watch live television on an airplane. Cheryl got cranky only once and that was when we went to pick up our luggage and there were hordes of people in the baggage area, with most of them hacking and coughing. Remember COVID? We did.
We went to pick up our rental car and sailed right through to the President's Circle with Hertz (a holdover from my days at Philips) where I picked the most godawful white "bus" against Cheryl's protestations. I picked it, though, because we'll be able to find it in ANY parking lot, and that is a lesson I learned from those same days at Philips.
Our hotel is the Hampton Inn on Litchfield Road in Goodyear, quite near Goodyear Park where we'll be indulging my love of baseball with the Reds, starting tomorrow at 1:10 p.m. It's your typical Hampton Inn with the sign on the heater that it is controlled by the wall thermostat. Only it wasn't. A call to the front desk and the maintenance man appeared to point out that ours is one of two rooms in the building where that sign isn't accurate. In fact, the heater/AC is controlled by the device itself under the window - old style. Thanks for that sign that says otherwise.Going out for some Mexican food in a few minutes, then a good night's sleep and off to see the Reds play the LA Angels tomorrow. I looked up the results of the Reds so far and darned if they're not 11-10, or right about .500. If they finish the season 81-81, it'll be a resounding success. So, again, more tomorrow and let's go Reds.
